Labels On Demand

ATLAS encourages the production of labels on demand. Producing labels on demand results in unique labels that accurately reflect:

  • Originating/Destinating (OD) pairs
  • Mailer ID
  • Machine ID
  • Serial Number
  • Various Other Information, depending on flow

These key pieces of information are what you will input into ATLAS for label generation.

Note that there is a finite number of unique barcodes. After 7 internal days, or 30 days from plant to plant, ATLAS automatically recycles the barcode number so that it can be used again if it is not present in the system.

For even more details about the barcode specifications, go to the EDL/ATLAS Website: imaq.usps.gov. To get to the EDL/ATLAS Web page, click the “What’s New” tab on the menu on the left-hand side. Then select “Learn more about EDL/ATLAS” from the dropdown list.
