Enhancements Overview

Five major hardware and software enhancements accompany the EDL and ATLAS implementation, including changes to:

Software – ATLAS Wedge software will be integrated into future software releases of facility-based Mail Processing Equipment (MPE).
Servers – Facility-level servers, the ATLAS Regional Exchange Server (ARES) and the ATLAS Web Server (WebATLAS), will be installed. In addition, new national-level servers (ARTEMIS, THEA, and GAEA) will also be in place.
Printers – MPE printer changes include the replacement of the Microcom 410 printers.
Workstations – The user interface and process for generating labels will change.
Scanners – Material handling system scanners and Intelligent Mail Devices (IMD) will be updated to read the new labels.
