Software Enhancements
In addition to being a Web-based application, ATLAS is also software integrated into future releases of label-producing mail processing equipment, allowing on-demand production of EDL. It is installed on letter, flat parcel, and sack sorting MPE that prints labels, including:
- DBCS / PARS
- DIOSS / CIOSS (rolled in as their schedules permit)
- AFSM100 / UFSM1000 / ATHS
- APPS / SPBS w/ PC104 Mod
On mail processing equipment, ATLAS Wedge software is completely transparent
to the user. Eventually, ATLAS could be enabled across all label-producing
mail processing equipment, so that it:
- Serves as a contingency label production application, when Web access
is not available or in an emergency situation
- Acts as a standalone MS Windows (98,2000,XP) version of ATLAS,
allowing for batch label production
- Receives info updates and uploads production data via modem connection
