Printer Enhancements

photo of Microcom 426 printerThe most notable MPE printer change is the replacement of Microcom 410 printers with backward-compatible Microcom 426 printers for on-demand machineside label production.

ATLAS allows other printers, such as Monarch (Paxar) and Sato, to generate improved-quality labels, which:

  • Enables label standardization and ensures long-term compliance
  • Optimizes human readable information
  • Generates more readable barcode

Initially, the Topeka MDC will be sending printers to only the Surface Visibility (SV) sites. Printer quantities will be limited to those needed for replacement of Microcom 410 printers on machine-side letter and flats outgoing equipment. MTSC will send out Maintenance Work Orders (MWO) for the Microcom 426 printer replacement once this initial deployment is completed.

The new printers will be able to:

  • Print more clearly and quickly
  • Print the 24-digit label
  • Be cleaned more easily, resulting in less "down time"
